The inscription mentions somewhat confusingly that the fountain was constructed by Ahmet Efendi in the time of Sultan Mahmud I (1730-1754) and repaired in 1733-1734, which would mean that it must have built in 1730-1732.

description

Constructed with an irregular plan, the fountain is single-sided and includes a reservoir. In its time of construction is was supplied by the Sırasekviler branch of the Taksim Maksemi distribution network. The fountain's primary functional façade, facing southeast, is constructed of cut stone. The mirror stone, seating platform and basin are made of marble. Above the mirror stone there is a ornamentation in the form of an oyster shell. The keystone of the pointed arch above the niche containing the mirror stone is decorated with a floral motif. A marble inscription is set within the cut stone panel at the fronton (English translation):

In the time of Sultan Mahmud Han the Victorious, Serhalife-i Ruznamçe-i Evvel Ahmed Efendi succeeded in constructing this building. He devoted his efforts to its repair in the year 1146 (1733-34) and the residents of the neighborhood repaired it in 1218 (1803-04)
