description

According to the Patria, the cistern of Bonus was built by a certain Bonus from Rome during the reign of Heraclius (r. 610-641). This cistern was close to Bonus' own house.

According to Crow et al., 2008, this Bonus was Heraclius' deputy in Constantinople when the emperor was away at the Eastern front. According to PLRE IIIA, p. 244, "from Rome" possibly refers to Heraclius' journey from Africa to overthrow Phocas.
