There are no literary attestations of the Reservoir's status, but Crow et al. speculate that the big reservoirs, that were fed by the Valens line, stopped functioning after the Avars cut the line in 626. It was restored by Constantine V in 766.

Nothing is attested of the Reservoir of Mocius until the 10th century (Patria, Book of Ceremonies).
