(History 13.16.33) Valens used the material from the walls of Chalcedon for the building of a conduit (holkos) of water, which the parlance of the people calls the aqueduct (agogos), and also called it 'Valens', through which he caused the water to enter the city in order that it had water in abundance both for other uses and for baths (loutra).
