description

The Palace of Hiereia was located at Fenerbahçe, the Asian side of the Bosporus. It also contained a cistern.

The Palace of Hiereia was a summer residence for the emperors, built by Justinian I (r. 527-565): Procop. Buildings, 1.3.10 and 1.11.16-22. Heraclius (r. 610-641) also resided here. Furthermore, the Iconoclast council of Constantine V (r. 741-775) was held in Hiereia. The Palace is documented until 1203, and today's archaeological remains are meagre.

Basil I cleaned the cistern and stored water there. The exact date of construction for the cistern is not clear.

This Palace was probably connected to a different Waterway systen than either Hadrian or Valens.
