1732, Mahmud Han I, Taksim, Istanbul.
This water chamber with two fountains built in its walls lends Taksim Square its name. It was built to distribute water from the new Taksim Waterway, which started with the reservoir at Bahçeköy. The Taksim chamber houses brass pipes which account for the distribution of the freshly collected water from Bahçeköy. They branch off to the following smaller channels:
- Tophane-Fındıklı channel (18 pipes)
- Beyoğlu-Galata channel (18 pipes)
- Kasımpaşa channel (5 pipes)
