Despite the 'dry years' after the Valens Waterway was presumably cut, Theophanes still records that Philippikos bathed in the baths of Zeuxippos at Pentecost (3 June 713). Philipipikos' special relationship with the bath is also recorded by the Parastaseis Syntomoi Chronikai, that claims that an image of this emperor (mistaken for the legendary Zeuxippos) was to be found in the ancient bath.
